So I decided to be cool and start a blog. Hmm...do I really have time for this? No, but all my friends are doing it! And I'm really bored here at work. And it is so fun to brag on and on about my precious little girls.
First off, I'll tell our "story". Adam and I met in 1999, right before I graduated. I went to college in the fall and came home EVERY weekend! I lasted one whole year there, and then we got engaged. We were engaged for a year, got married, and moved to Nappanee. Fast forward a couple years. We were ready to have a baby (funny, are you ever really ready?), but apparently God wanted us to take a different route to completing our family. We tried for a little over a year with no success. Instead of trying any fertility treatments, we both felt that God was leading us to adopt. We hooked up with an agency in Florida at the end of October 2003. In November we found out that, surprise!, we were expecting a little bundle in July. We figured this was one of those tests that our pastor is always talking about. You know, like God will ask you to do something, just to see if you are willing, and then he'll close the door at the last minute.
So okay, we called the agency, told them our situation, that we didn't really feel ready for 2 babies at one time. They were totally fine with that. 2 weeks later...I'm at work, my boss comes down to my classroom and says "It's the adoption agency..." So I'm like, "What in the world?" i take the call and the caseworker tells me that they have this "perfect situation" of a baby girl 3 days old and both parents have signed off. They know that we are expecting, but do we want to go ahead with the adoption. Holy Cow! Well, long story short...we said yes and here we are. 7 months later I gave birth to a healthy baby girl, and 2 years after that, another healthy baby girl joined our family.
Crazy, huh? Well, that's how I feel most days! And now I've been typing this for about an hour (getting interrupted numerous times), so I'm going to sign off for today. Pictures to follow!
The ramblings of a stay at home mom who has way too much time on her hands. Although my house could use a good cleaning...nah, this is more fun!!
